[concertina postcards, pedastals in metal]
FORTEPIANO | SOUNDTRACK UNDER TAHRIR SQUARE is an installation realized using a concertina postcards composed of 30 self-portraits made in Cairo, in 2012, during the first elections in 30 years of Mubarak’s dictatorship. The installation forms a skyline on three pedestals in iron, like the digital track of one of the audio recordings, made from my terrace, a few meters from Tahrir Square. During each day of the month before the elections, Tahrir Square was animated by incredible masses of hundreds of people, screaming slogans against the military government. The distance from the specificity of a place and time allowed me to understand better how we live personally a collective event, tackling the border between personal and collective experience in a wide perspective.
